In this project, interior transformation was made on the original building with a special structure, resulting in the doubling of the effective interior living area. This allowed for a reasonable layout and convenient living space, satisfying the needs of the owner's three generations and greatly enhancing the overall value of the house.
The interior structure of the original building was chaotic, but the outdoor environment was beautiful. To create a natural and comfortable living experience, the designer integrated the outdoor scenery into the interior space. Patios were designed to increase lighting and natural airflow in the negative first floor space. A sunshine teahouse was added in the courtyard on the first floor, and a large new terrace was created on the second floor, seamlessly blending the beautiful outdoor natural environment with the interior space.
The project spans three floors, with a total interior area of 288 square meters. The designer reconstructed the interior space through the transformation of the basement and the cast-in-place floor slab on the second floor, creating a living space with complete functions and a rational layout.
The primary challenge faced by the designer was the chaotic structure of the original building. The negative first floor had no lighting, and the second floor had a limited effective living area of only 20 square meters. However, through innovative spatial restructuring, the designer was able to create three complete floors, providing a fully functional living space for the owner's three generations.
The Happy Home project, located in Chunshantai, Jinkai Avenue, Yubei District, Chongqing, China, was completed in May 2019. The design period spanned from April 2018 to July 2018, with the construction period lasting from July 2018 to May 2019.
This exceptional design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. The award recognizes designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
With its innovative approach to spatial planning and integration of the outdoor environment, Happy Home stands as a testament to the power of design to transform chaos into comfort.
